Brassicas in the RoundMy best friend, Lillian, often says to me: "Eva, paint a watercolor painting of this or paint a painting of that." And my husband, Neal, often says: "Eva, you could paint this!" Often these suggestions do not inspire me. But when Lillian suggested that I paint cabbages I was immediately intrigued. I soon found out that cabbages are a perfect subject for a watercolor painting. The variety of their colors and textures and sizes presents all kinds of pictorial possibilities. In this painting their round shapes tempted me to cluster them together in this twelve-sided wooden tub. The print looks great matted in a square, sea-foam green mat with a round opening. |
